Cheng Hoon Teng Temple Malacca was built-in 1648 is the oldest Buddhist temple in Malaysia and also outside China. Its also know as the temple of Bright Cloud. The material to build the temple was entirely imported from Southern China. Cheng Hoon Teng Temple practice three doctrinal system Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism. In the old days, other than places of worship temple is also used by Chinese Kapitan as a court to resolve the dispute on between the locals. Covering about 4600 meter square, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple Malacca consist few prayers halls. The biggest prayers halls dedicated to Goddess of mercy Kuan Yin. The temple construction is done in stages by several Chinese Kapitan, among them are Kapitan Lee Wei King, Kapitan Chan Ki Lock and Kapitan Chua Su Cheong. Its took about 156 years to build the whole Temple as what we see today. The remain of two Kapitan who contributed to the construction of the temple was buried here.
